Disappointment – Overpriced, confusion amongst the waiters...and what they r most notorious for...the 'Brick Oven' was out of service! From the outside Bricco appeared to be an adorable eatery...and the size of the place just made for a more intimate feeling...however...it took 10 minutes for us just to be given menus after being seated. Always a tell tale sign in my book is the bread and butter they start you off w/...if the butter is rock hard!? No Good! What are u thinking I as myself...the bread was as though it had been... read more
Way overpriced, rude waiters, noisy, dull, no music, small portions – My boyfriend took me there on St. Valentine's day for a romantic dinner. We saw a nice review on Zagat and even had the "should try it" sticker in there. I am utterly disappointed! The place was extremely noisy, the atmosphere - very dull and the waiter - obnoxious. He had a heavy accent and was hard to understand. And whenever we asked him something twice he would make weird faces at us. Moreover - our table was placed in between another 2 tables and some... read more
angry owner/manager – My work associate and friend wanted a nice Italian before he was going to go on a weight losing diet. So we went to Bricco nearby. I didn't like the pricing, but decided i'd order pizza. I thought it was all ok, service, food, yes, the waiter was often in the back and my friend had to call for him several times, and perhaps my friend didn't call for him in the nicest way. But, the problem happened at the end of the meal. Our bill was: veal, 16.95, margarita pizza, 12.95 and "1 open appetizer," 4.50. The... read more
Great Restaurant that you'll go to over and over again – This place has a great atmosphere, not too big, not too small and great cozy, warm lighting. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. The service is great. We went here once many years ago off a posting on the web, then the next time we were in NY we with some friends wandering around looking for someplace to eat and found this place again. They told us that the next time they went to NY they found the place and went again. It's consisently good and original food.
Get the Pizza a la Renata! – Bricco has remained over the years we have been there, one of the best, coziest and tastiest Italian places in midtown. It draws a neighborhood crowd, theatre crowd, as well as business crowd from Time Warner and Hearst. The pasta dishes are consistently good, as well as the seafood. We love to eat at the bar, talk to the bartenders and Nino (owner) and Armando (manager). The pizza is the best we've had...especially the new Pizza a la Renata (thin crust, fresh ingredients -- arugula, prosciutto a... read more
Good food, bad service – We arrived for an early dinner without reservations. Since we had theater tickets, our waiter promised to be "especially attentive", which turned out to be the kiss of death. He seemed to be having trouble remembering the specials. The three tables around us were served their meals before we were, and the couple next to us, who arrived several minutes after we did, were on their dessert when we got our salads. We were never offered dessert because our waiter spent about 20 minutes at the bar calculat... read more
Fav. Place in NY – Everytime that I have visited NY I make sure to eat at least twice here. The service, ambience and food is excellent. Make sure to check out their made in house pasta! Don't bypass desert either. One of the best traditions for women is the kissing of the ceiling! It may be a touristy thing to do but it adds to the experience!
No, I said Pizza. (PI-ZZA) – So much to say, so little room. Firstly, the staff don't listen. It seems that "no we're still eating" translates to italian as, "please take our half finished pizza" as "a half bottle of wine" translates to "a full bottle of wine". The seemingly simply task of bring food to customers also seemed a little to difficult for the lads they managed to bring us some other tables entrees. And to top it off we were being served by a kid who at 8pm on a sunday really should have been getting some shut eye... read more
