I am ready to leave his Doctor. Although I think he is very good and thorough, I never get call backs from him or his staff. He ordered bloodwork through Quest, never got a call back about results and the MyChart was never updated. I had asked for the results o be Faxed to my gastroenterologist, for anesthesia clearance for a colonoscopy, it never happened. Called and left messages 3 times, no call back. I'm looking for a new cardiologist.
I am a retired physician and have never had poorer treatment from another doctor. I was admitted to cardiac telemetry from the emergency room after suffering, a cardiac event. I had an urgent angiogram by Dr. workman. Unfortunately, I never saw him again. He never came by my hospital room after the angiogram. I was sent home by a hospitalist without a diagnosis from Dr. Wertman. I have contacted him multiple times to find out a diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plan but he refuses to speak with me.
I had an echo cardio gram done and was waiting to hear back on the results. Doctor never called me. I called the office to inquire and was told I’d get a call back, never did. This went on for several more attempts, each time I was promised a call back and never got one. Finally after placing a stern call to this office and offering a piece of my mind, the doc called me back. Agree with other reviewer, office is a joke I’ll be seeking another provider.
WARNING...first let me explain I never do reviews I am 50 and this is my second review I have ever done but had to let other people know so they find a better option. I saw Dr. Wertman on 4/21/23 as first time patient and I have had a previous heart attack wanted to do check up make sure every thing was ok so he ordered CT scan of my heart to make sure to build up. I had a very good experience. I received kind and full attention. Dr Wertman was knowledgeable, helpful and kind in communication. I got a promt and friendly service by everyone. I felt treated well.
Dr. Wertman's Ladera Ranch office staff cost him a patient. While he seems to be a capable physician who is generous with his time, the feckless and unreliable office staff has bungled too many of my urgent lab and Rx refill requests and compromised my care. As a result I was forced to find a new cardiologist. Suggest you do likewise if planning to see this practitioner in the group's Ladera Ranch offices. Can't speak for the Irvine office.

Dr. Wertman is super nice and knowledgeable doctor . I have crazy uncontrollable hypertension, hereditary from my mother side. I’ve been taking several medications for it prescribed by different doctors but it seems nothing is working to control it steadily. I’ve been rushed to ER few times because my BP would go up to 195/119. This time I feel that he’s the right doctor for me. So far so good. I have total confidence in him.
I made an appointment to see Dr. Wertman for high blood pressure and a rapid and irregular heartbeat. He spent about 40 minutes reviewing my previous records and new tests. He looks you in the eye and is a great listener. He made his recommendations to me for the near future and explained why each test was necessary. I would highly recommend him.
