Post Work Bar – Lauren from work suggested a handful of us go the Brass Monkey after work. She picked a good spot as the beer selection was execellent, appetizers tasty and the crowd was fun. The place has quiet spots for talking on the front porch and the front of the bar and gets much more crowded and louder in the back of the bar. I'd recommend this place for After Work or if you are interested in meeting new people.
Waist of time and money! – Ugly people..... Horrible service.... Bad music.... Beastly bartenders. If that's you're idea of fun... Enjoy! Need I say more...?
Best Birthday Ever – Had my birthday here and not only were the staff courtious, but they had all the booths waiting for us reserved. We danced and basically owned the place- This would be a fun place party or not! GO GO GO. There are too many pertentious clubs in the meat packing district getting love- Give a good time bar some love!
Fun, Low-Key – Brass Monkey is a great place to hang-out. Relaxed atmosphere makes for a big difference in a neighbourhood full of chi-chi establishments. Drinks are reasonably priced which is always good!
possibly your worst move – Not only was the bar overcrowded.. its a lame scene of out of town yuppies, drunk bachelorettes and cheesy chesthair. the bud lites are $6 each and served by the rudest bartenders I've ever encountered in NYC. The music is cliche as well. This place is a must miss in the meatpacking district, trust me... not worth your time and money.... Unless you like watered down drinks and ugly people.
Great place!! – Brass Monkey is such a refreshing addition to the Meat Packing District! It's a normal, no-attitude, non-bridge & tunnel bar which is hard to come by in this neighborhood! Great place to go after work or at the beginning or end of a night out.
Relax w/ a brewski – I love this bar. Me and a few co-workers go there after work from time to time and we always have a great time. #1 - they have the best beer selection in the area in my opinion. #2 - the food is really really good (they often have Calamari, but you have to ask) #3 - the crowd is relaxed and "normal".
Don't bother trying to throw a bday party here! – Don't get me wrong, the bar is a good time! It's spacious, the atmosphere is great, and the music is alot of fun. However, I made three phone calls to plan a bday party, 2 weeks in advance. When I arrived, no one knew what I was talking about. I had 43 people come to a bar, thinking they were getting discounted drinks, and a roped off area...None of which happened. But would I go there on a weekend with a few friends? Absolutely!
Regular Bar in the Meatpacking District – This is a normal bar unlike the "trendy" clubs that you'd find in the Meatpacking District. There are a wide variety of beers to choose them. The food menu is a little limited. There's a front bar area and then the 2nd half of the bar has a big screen TV to watch games and the like. Prices are average ($5 for Coors Light). Good mix of people.
