Virtually criminal neglect, and I can say after a year of my mother living there, you will need to be very vigilant and insistent if you want you or a loved one to get adequate care. Horribly expensive, but they insist on expecting far too much from the few staff they are willing to hire; my heart goes out to the residents and staff alike. Well, where do I start? I went to visit. Freedom Square and from the start I was INPRESSED. The facility was. very cleaned I have visit I few times just to see if it changes put that is the way is always, I love to meet the person in charge of housekeeping.
I highly recommend Brookdale Peoria! They have delicious food and a wonderful cook that aims to please everyone! Their director, wellness director, and their whole team really care! They do everything they can to help make my Dad's stay there the best it can be. The people living there are wonderful as well. Don't look any further - Brookdale is the place!

If I could give minus stars I would. I was assured someone would answer my call button to put me on a bedpan immediately. Last night I pushed the call button over 30 minutes and nobody came. This morning I pushed it for 25 minutes. When someone came I told them I was about to wet the bed and was told to go ahead. Then I was told if I would wear a diaper that wouldn’t happen. They are not transparent with their pricing so consumer be aware. This is a greedy organization who does not care one iota about your loved ones. The rooms are like shoe boxes. The food is horrible and limited. The facility is depressing and is more like a nursing home. The residents who are there for assisted living literally have to ask to go outside because the doors are locked. The room was filthy when my loved one moved in. The Exec. I've lived here 6 months I just got a bill saying my rent was going up by 528 dollars before this I was semi satisfied and okay with living here but now they're taking all my money
The community hasn't really hasn't proven to meet some of the strong reviews, or perhaps former reputation, that I had hoped for. I am a family member of a resident with frequent hands on interaction with the staff in the care of my loved one. Its a very expensive facility, definitely at the top end for memory care; however: 1) definitely doesn't feel like high-touch care (caregivers seem stretched); 2) low caregiver-resident ratios; 3) food is below expectation for the price point -- a lot of sandwiches and pizza, not bal... read more
Brookdale of Derby not only is it like walking into your own house but the atmosphere from the patients and the staff is very calming. Staff is very attentive to their patients and their patients needs and go above and beyond to make sure the patient is well taken care of.
