Children’s Hospital is one of the bittersweet places in Boston generally if you’re at Children’s emergency room or in the hospital you’re therefore a loved one sickness or well-being. Diagnosis recovery nurses can be very rude judgmental and borderline races, can be DCF trigger happy for minorities but as crazy as this sounds, they’re the best place for children and getting a diagnosis. I am extremely disappointed with the care and wait time we experienced today. My nephew swallowed a coin and was first seen at South Shore Hospital around 12 p.m., where they determined he needed to be transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital to have the coin removed from his esophagus. We arrived at Boston Children’s shortly after being transferred and have now been waiting over six hours—it’s currently 7:15 p.m.—with no clear updates or urgency shown. They are a joke. They charged me over $80,000 for a surgery for my son that IN TOTAL should have been $20,000. Due to the fact we have insurance, they decided to up charge everything including 15,000$ for materials that should have cost $5. Now the insurance isn’t covering it all and they want me to pay part of that balance. I told them good luck, I’m not paying it!
