After years I've been quiet content with Boss' co2 laser cutter. I did do some comparing laser to laser apples to apples as much as within reason prior to. Omtech was not even close and had it actually returned. I suppose that's a given as most know you get what you pay for. I prefer the LS speed, power, and processing options Boss has over Thunder machines. I look to utilize a metal cutter later and I want to keep the the same brand and Boss has a larger offering.
I owned my boss for about 3 months now. In the 3 months it probably worked 1 month. I had to get parts for 3 different issues with this machine. I can’t say a bad thing about the tech they were amazing but it’s just dishearting to spend 18,000 and it breaks all the time. We still can’t figure out the rotary mode issue( weeks of back and forth) so I had to do what’s best for my company to fix it. BOUGHT A THUNDER LASER so I can engrave in rotary mode. Boss Laser Is the Boss! We have purchased 4 machines from Boss Laser and use them to cut textiles in an industrial environment. As a review of utilizing the nesting software that came with the machines - we have been able to reduce our waste by 99% and have only 1% waste on our materials which has been a huge savings for us! Our HP-2440 -150w has been a surprisingly versatile laser cutter for our guys in the shop. Learning the software - Lightburn and setup for operators went smooth overall. Good help resources. Out of the box we had an issue with the z-axis but was resolved thru support. Considering accuracy we can cut/mark wood or sheet metal vs our routers it has made this machine a tremendous asset.
Poor quality and terrible technical service Spend $ 22,000 HP-3655. I have 2 weeks with it and they still do not solve the problem, it came misaligned, damaged laser guide, sometimes it locks when turning it on, acrylic on the door with damage (2 inches of curve) and they want me to pay $ 1200 to someone to come fix it. It is the worst technical service I have seen.
