I visited Borrmann’s Steel this morning, a place where I’ve bought metal supplies several times before — always with superb experiences in the past. After checking in, I selected three pieces — two from the scrap section and one 10-foot piece of steel. At the office, I was quoted about $165, but they couldn’t process Apple Pay. When I returned 30 minutes later with my credit card, I was told the total was now $245. I work at SLAC and have ordered from R.E. Borrmann Steel a handful of times in the last 15 years but I always place my orders over the phone. Today I purchased some steel for a home project and decided to swing by their shop. I briefly explained my project to the team at Borrmann Steel and they went out of their way to be helpful.
