About this business
Coming from Terrasini in Sicily to Detroit, Jim Bommarito chose to go into the bakery business instead of entering the automobile industry as so many others did in the early 20th century. In 1925, Jim and his wife Rose, Vito and Jack, started selling lemon ice, gelate, cookies, and wedding cakes at Joseph Campau and Mullet in the heart of the Italian neighborhood in Detroit. Nice little bakery While I don't frequent this bakery all that much, it does make some pretty good products. Their bread and other baked goods are enough to make one visit, but their lemon ice is what always makes me want to walk through their doors. Perfect on a hot summer day, the lemon ice hits the spot. Then since I'm in there already, I pick up some other items. The prices were on par with other bakery's around, and so is their quality.
Best Italian Subs Around! This bakery is FAMOUS for their sub sandwiches. They make their own Sub rolls and that is what truly makes these subs great. The smell of the baked goods and warm bread keep me coming back time and time again. The subs are priced at I believe $4.50 for a foot long sub.
excellent bakery This establishment is a bakery first and foremost. They offer many different delectable items including pastries, cookies and cakes. Excellent Bommarito's is the first place we go when we come home to visit our Mother, in Grosse Pointe. We live in Naples Florida and no service is as Great as Bommarito's. The boat races and a Sub! Excellent!!!! We love Bommaritos!
