About this business
Coming from Terrasini in Sicily to Detroit, Jim Bommarito chose to go into the bakery business instead of entering the automobile industry as so many others did in the early 20th century. In 1925, Jim and his wife Rose, Vito and Jack, started selling lemon ice, gelate, cookies, and wedding cakes at Joseph Campau and Mullet in the heart of the Italian neighborhood in Detroit. Was crowded around lunch time, but well worth the wait. Fresh cannoli, delicious donuts, and Italian ice were excellent!!!
They are one of the most fantastic bakeries in Michigan there cannolis and Italian bread out of this world I recommend this to anyone that is visiting Michigan

Wow! I remember when mom and dad ordered all pastries for Liz, Fran and Maryann's showers and weddings. In fact, many of the Birthday and holiday pastries were ordered either there, or the awesome Polish bakery in the neighborhood. When it came to pastries our parents spared no expense!
Go there whenever I'm on that side of town.Love the canolli's.
