Get away from the typical crazyness – Me and some friends would hang out here as much as posible when i was stationed in Ft. Lewis. After every field trip or over sees mission it would always be the first place we would go. Very low key, good food, cheap drinks and if your lucky enough a guy would play the piano in the corner while you were there. Never a line for the pool table. I LOVE Bob's Java Jive! – Hands down, my favorite bar on the entire west coast! It is a dive, unapologetically-and rightfully-so. The food is good, and cheap. Ditto the beer. Crowd is quirky and ecclectic. They show vintage hygene films, you'll hear Monte Python's "Every Sperm Is Sacred" on karoke night, and the restrooms are labeled "Tarzan" and "Jane." It's a giant coffee pot. – If you live in Tacoma and haven't been to the Jive yet, you have to go. A total dive, cheap-cheap beer, there used to be a live monkey there, pictures of River Phoenix, and Keanu Reeves when they where hanging out there and wanted to buy the place. If you are looking for a quirky place to hide this is it.
