Bob Chinn's Crab House

4.4

About this business

It's big, noisy, and crowded, but it remains a Chicago favorite for seafood. This restaurant boasts one of the highest volumes of customers in the country. The crab, not surprisingly, ranks as the specialty, and a fresh catch is flown in daily, always served either grilled or steamed.

The Oysters Rockefeller were so plump and fresh, the best yet! Shrimp and crab au gratin very tasty as usual. Blackened Swordfish very good. Served with fresh green beans al dente and coleslaw. And of course, garlic rolls! Never disappointed. Server Kevin was friendly and attentive. Can't wait til next time :)

The oysters Rockefeller were physically small and not what oysters Rockefeller are like in southern restaurants - large oysters & spinach to fill the half-shell, set upon a bed of rock salt - warmed, not petrified by the heat of the salamander. The crab & shrimp au gratin suffered much the same - too much shredded cheese on top and then petrified in the salamander. Next time, I’ll dine elsewhere.

Love that restaurant. Took an hour and 15 minutes to and will be going back. Serve is excellent. Starting going there in the mid 90’s stop for a while but the drive is worth it.

I did not like the greeting I got. Wait time was good. The last time I came here in 2002 or so, it was 45 minutes. This time it was faster. There was an older lady that was very kind to us, from the heart, so she made up for the rest of the crew. The other customers weren't all that friendly either. As far as food, I ordered just fish and fries, to be on the same side. Fish was to fluffy and the fries could have had a better taste to them. Overall, 3 stars. I think I'll try the one in Naperville.
