Its a family tradition to go to the Boathouse on the first evening of vacation. Our reservation was at 6 pm. Nicole greeted us and was very efficient & welcoming. Then we were very lucky to have Cliff as our server. Incredible food and service. This is the 5th vacation at the Isle of Palm. And this 5th visit at The Boathouse was definitely the best. Cliff was our server and he was cordial and welcoming as much as he was attentive and professional. I started with one dozen James River, VA raw oysters that were very nice. As for dinner, I went with the grouper. I usually go broiled, but Cliff advised it grilled. He was right. Great recommendation. It wasn't my first visit and it certainly won't be my last. The stated view was non existent. Food was not bad. I am sure there is a nicer place to eat.
Our first visit to The Boathouse and we were greatly impressed. It started with Pamela and continued to get better. From fried green tomatoes and a remarkable ceviche to blackened snapper, combo platter, greens, cheese grits and okra and tomatoes, it was all perfectly prepared and delicious. We live in Florida so are used to good seafood and this was some of the best. We will come back when we're in the area. We'll ask for Pamela because she was terrific!
