Blue Marlin is a restaurant that gives the people of Columbia the chance to savor the very best of what the Low Country has to offer. Oysters, fish, and shrimp straight from the local coast are used to produce wonderfully delicious dishes. Many feature Cajun and Creole flavors, adding just the right amount of spice to any order. Some of the fried seafood specialties have included the Firecracker Flounder and the Salt and Pepper Catfish. The wine and cocktail lists are also extensive. Very enjoyable Blue Marlin offers a nice atmosphere and well prepared seafood dishes in the Vista. (They have steaks, too, but that's not what I go for.) While it's true that it's not high end, I really can't complain about this quite pleasant little restaurant. I like that I can check their specials ahead of time on line before I go.
Good Grits Not a favorite but the Grits are good or the Grits is good depending on your southern grammar education
Decent Seafood In Columbia To my surprise The seafood here is pretty good! Columbia doesnt have that many places where seafood is decent but this is one of the few. The flounder is good and the soups are good as well. If you want seafood downtown then try the Blue Marlin you might be surprised. Also, there is seating outside during the spring and summer months.
Best Seafood In Columbia Columbia isn't known for its wealth of good restaurants -- it is chain city, but the Blue Marlin is an exception. Each experience at the Blue Marlin has been positive. The menu is mainly surf and turf. They serve consistently good food, have a nice bar selection, comfortable and classy decor, and the service is good as well. It's not an initmate restaurant, so probably not good for a first date or really special evening, but any other time -- the Blue Marlin is the best in Columbia.
