Blue Heron is the best! We have used them for several years when planning trips to Ocracoke and they are so knowledgeable, friendly and easy to work with!
Update: Refund received 4/7. My 2026 reservation was cancelled due to the homeowners electing to discontinue renting their property to vacationers. I was notified of the cancellation, by email, on December 4, 2025 and was given the option to rent a different property or request a refund. On December 28 I responded to the email requesting a refund of my deposit of $32.03. My email went unanswered. They have a monopoly on rentals in Ocracoke and their service reflects it. So don't expect any help and barely any courtesy from the reps unless you're actually on site at the time of need.
My family and I have rented from Blue Heron for six years now and couldn’t be happier. Their properties are very clean and well maintained, and their customer service is excellent, always pleasant and accommodating. Their early check-in option is great, too! We highly recommend this company and look forward to our next stay.
