Spent 30 agrivating hours fighting for benefit listed on 2026 formulary that BCI kept rejecting. 5 weeks in and they have not processed my auto payment application. At this point it appears they are the worst run company in existence. Anything other than healthcare and they would fold. If there is any way I could be less satisfied, I can’t think of it.
Like others, I too had policy payment issues. I’ve had dental insurance through the exchange with BCID for years. For whatever reason they decided this was the time to “miss route” my payment. They have clawed back all methods of payment outside of physical checks or go to their office to pay in person (probably with a check). I had used the e-check method in the portal just prior to it being removed as an option (probably because it doesn’t work) and since my payments never linked to my policy, my policy was terminated. 1. The customer service reps could use more training. I once had a rep tell me they don't accept Mastercard, despite me using mine to make payments the full year. Another time, one rep told me I could both pay and set up recurring payments with a debit card online. Another one told me that is not possible. Overall, more often than not, I feel they do not know what they are talking about. 2. Their website needs improvement. Why does it offer a pay online option when it doesn't work? I’ve had a terrible experience with Blue Cross recently, which is shocking given my positive history with them. I made my premium payment on January 1, but later learned on January 2nd—without any notification—that my enrollment number had been changed, causing the payment to post incorrectly. I was told this would be a simple fix. As of 1/20/26, after speaking with eight different representatives, sending emails, and even mailing a letter, nothing has been resolved. My mother passed away 1/09/26 so I called to terminate her policy. I was told I had to send in a death certificate and would continue to receive invoices for as long as a year. That was the end of our conversation until she called me back saying she was wrong and would send me to the termination department. After 40 minutes waiting I finally hung up. I spent a total of over an hour on hold with BC and still don't know how to terminate her policy. Worst customer service I've ever experienced.
