Just received a letter from Blue Cross telling me that they are canceling their contract with university of Michigan effective July 1. I have cancer. I selected Blue Cross during open enrollment last year because they covered university of Michigan’s Outstanding patient care. This is complete BS. The past three months BC/BS has taken 23 days, 19 days and 19 days to process a check resulting in a past due balance on the statement. It is apparent that the CEO needs to take a pay cut to hire additional staffers to process payments.
I would give ZERO stars if I were able to. BCBS of Michigan used to be a decent insurance company, but as of 2026 I have been denied sleep medication due to being forced to use Optum Rx for my prescriptions who states the reason for denial as "not covered," but also doesn't assist with an alternative medication. I have a very well educated Neurologist who put in her notes that I need a sleep study due to "oropharyngeal overcrowding."
