Food is fantastic and service good. All employees are friendly and service fast.
This is my favorite place for enchiladas!!! I usually love trying different things....I do! But these are soooo good I can't tear myself away from them! They also have some great chicharones if you like that(REALLY soft). Not my thing...but my mom does. Great prices.
Best tacos and the best enchiladas
Found a piece of wire and paper in my food! – Went to the Blanco Cafe for dinner, and one in our party found a three in long piece of wire and paper in the barbacoa plate. The waiter did not apologize, but offered to bring another plate, which we accepted. When we got the bill, they charged us for everything! We thought at least the one dinner would be free, but no! Average availabilty – Good food but if you go around noon on the weekends they'll be out of certain dishes like the barbacoa and the ham and egg tacos. So if you've waited all week for these dishes call ahead and ask for availability.
Outstanding! One of the Best Mexican Restaurants in San Antonio – This is a locally owned San Antonio ORIGINAL. The enchaladas and homemade tortillas are among the very best in San Antonio. Reader Poll after Reader Poll rates their enchaladas as Best in the City. The price is extremely right! In fact, the Blanco Cafe is probably the best cheap Mexican Food in San Antonio. Still the original – Known as Blanco #1 it is the first and best of the Blanco Cafe's. You can go to different resturants for different meals and if you want cheesy filling enchiladas that come out hot, this is your destination. I have been going for over 10 years and all the wait staff are great. Definately a local favorite. BTW the "Mexican Diner" is 6.99 because everything is fresh! Good food for the buck – Good food, friendly service, and affordable plates. I like the enchiladas (though they use american cheese) from Blanco Cafe but the rice and beans need some work. I felt the beans and the rice had a fresh from the can (or box) taste to them. I would recommend trying the restaurant but be cautious of peak times because the restaurant is small.
Worth It! – I finally found my enchiladas I have been looking for, and they were here at Blanco Cafe. Old style, greasy, cheesey, and damn good. Some of the best values in town are here. I think the most anything cost is $6.99. Place is small, not in the best neighborood, and always busy. But there is a reason for that. This is the non tourist trap mexican food that I was looking for when I moved here.
