My experience has been like that of the reviewer in Check Please: the bar staff is attentive to your specific requests as is Chef Jacob. The Blackboard Bistro is a West Seattle gem. Transitions are always a bit spotty, and I think Blackboard may have ben going through one when the previous reviewer was there. I've had a similar experience myself at another place bit further south, and your review prompts me to give that place another chance.
Wouldn't know if this place was good or not. After our party of 8 sat there for 1.5 hours nibbling on bread, the waitress finally admitted that she forgot to send our food order to the kitchen. She wasn't even apologetic and repeatedly said that she was new. Terrible that this restaurant would put someone like this on the floor to serve their guests!
This is a local treasure, should be a national treasure. The flavors and inventiveness of the menu are incredible!
