Just ate here last night. Service was great, staff was friendly, but a little disappointed in the quality of food. Calamari was not great. We also had the sword fish, shrimp and scallop pasta which were good but not what we expected especially for the price we payed. Would try again.
The food was delicious (salmon ala oscar), the service pleasant and efficient, overall experience was excellent!
I've only ever had the specialty pizzas at Black Pelican but they have always been amazing! Definitely a must stop restaurant on your OBX vacation!
Great food. Been here many times, we live less than an hour and a half away. Service was horrible. And it want busy, we were there at 3pm, maybe 20 people in the whole place.
Had always remembered the Pelican being great, was disappointed this weekend. The crab cake had so much filler. It's a great location and service is friendly.
We almost always come here whenever we're in the area. I'm typically never disappointed with the food. Last night was no different. I tried the Mixed Grill and it great. Our service started out slow, with our server walking away while we were asking a question, but thankfully she became more attentive.
I am guessing that being the end of the busy summer has taken a toll on the kitchen and staff. Five of us went to dinner at 6 PM on a Friday night. It was busy, with a little wait, but not too bad. Two of us ordered pizzas, and they were ok, and raised the score of this review. The other three had dishes almost inedible. The shrimp on skewers were way overcooked and dry. Great atmosphere, service, and food! Great for families.
Second year in a row we dined @ Black Pilican. We had a large party of 15. As we arrived we where told the wait was 45-60 minutes. About 40 minutes later we where sat. The food and service was excellent. I would highely recommend to anyone visting obx!!!!
