One of the WORST HVAC repair experiences I have ever had. The tech was nice, but made a $300+ repair that was unnecessary and did not fix the AC. They recommended I get a new A/C unit on 7/30, and they were really quick to send me a link for financing the unit, which I completed and was approved. I waited and called Black Mountain Air several times over the next FIVE days in 105+ degree weather and no A/C. I was desperate. I had just gotten out of the hospital and needed to stay cool, as well as keep my 88-year-old disabled mom who lives with me, comfortable as well. I told both the tech and the receptionist about how critical it was that I get a response.
It was excuse after excuse, with it finally culminating with the owner "needed time to review the quote” because our attic was “a tight fit” and “may need additional labor costs” if they had to possibly cut a beam to get the unit into the attic. I was so angry! The owner NEVER called me, not once. I had to call over and over and the poor receptionist was trying really hard to explain that the owner was working on it.
I finally called for 3 other quotes, 2 of which told me that the repair BMA made was unnecessary, but I got stuck for a bill for $379 anyway. I got the invoice today, and STILL never received a call from the owner. They’re not just unprofessional, but it speaks to how little this company cares about others. I do not understand how they have good reviews.
I finally settled with Bob’s Repair, and they were AMAZING. They inspected, recommended a new unit and quoted me a price that was $1000 lower for a brand-new AC/heater combo unit. And guess what? They got it into the attic and installed, with ZERO alterations done to the surrounding structure, in under TWO hours!
What exactly is Black Mountain Air doing trying to figure out how to do their jobs? Are they that inexperienced? I don’t understand the struggle at all. All three quotes that I did get did not include extra labor charges because the attic was a tight fit. This was a terrible experience and I would not recommend them to plug in a portable fan.
