What always stands out is Dr Black's empathy, wealth of medical knowledge (which always proves up to date), his acknowledgement of me as a person as well a patient, his taking the time to fully hear my concerns and never making me feeling rushed, the way he explains my conditions and treatments patiently, ensuring that I understand, his thoroughness following up on ongoing issues and routine health maintenance issues, excellent referrals. This office is fantastic! The entire staff are welcoming and kind. I feel blessed to have found Dr. Black. He listened to me and assured me that he felt he could help me. I worked in the medical field for 20 years and have seen fair to mediocre healthcare. Dr. Black is neither of those!
Dr David Black came highly recommended to me by a patient of his. I am always treated with respect, dignity and top notch service each time I visit his office. This doctor knows his profession. His bed side manner is second to none. He actually cares about his patients health and well being.
There is not a star rating for staff. I would currently give that a 1. It used to be much higher. Dr. B. has been a great asset to my family for over 30 years and his professionalism will always be a 5 star rating. Ever so attentive and kind. We love him. I havent seen him in almost 3 years and it was new staff to answer my call this summer. They asked why I wanted to see him and as I used to trust this office I told them something very embarassing. Dr Black is an excellent physician . He is knowledgeable, kind, caring — he never over-perscribes medication. He is practical in the extreme and gentle, He epitomizes “ the good doctor” with a country doctor manner! I have recommended him to many friends that say the same things about this truly wonderful physician.
Dr. Black overall is pleasant but seems dismissive when I asked questions. He seems most interested in triathlons and kicking your case down the road to the next physician, even for something minor or unclear diagnosis. His nurse is excellent but the office staff seems confused and overwhelmed. There is no computer in the office and receptionist had to look up lab codes on her iPhone. I am left with no confidence that this doctor really cares about what he is doing with patients.
I feel so fortunate to have Dr Black as my primary care physician. He is an incredibly competent and compassionate practitioner as well as general contributor to the well being of our society. The Gainesville community is genuinely fortunate to be served by David Black.
I have been a patient of Dr. Black's for 25 years, and consider myself extremely lucky that he is my physician, and that I get simultaneously professionalism and competence as well as David's sense of humanity. He takes time to listen to stories, not just medical ones, and gets to know his patients much better that way. He does not recommend expensive tests or invasive procedures easily, but tends to suggest exercise first, a philosophy that helped me greatly when I had a back problem.
The absolutely most incompetent physician's office I have ever dealt with. Extremely poor office staff, follow-through, communication, etc. Unreal. Over the 12 years I have been dealing with this office from a healthcare provider's standpoint - they have continued to get worse. Horrible with returning calls, with communicating accurately, with completing anything timely, with ensuring their community patient's needs are met, etc.
