cozy and comfortable – a lovely menu. very comforting, rustic, deep flavors. got the salad (which they split w/o any complaint) and the monkfish. my grandfather got the chicken and we shared the apple tart dessert. everything was wonderful...my fish had too much sauce on it though. service wasn't remarkable to start, but by the end of the meal our server "warmed up to us" and was great.
Really?? – After my husband and I saw a 21 food rating in Zagats for this particular restaurant, we saw it as a solid choice for Friday night dinner/wine. We ordered wine by the glass and swore that it was watered down. After sending back the first round, we got more of the same. Rodent in the restaurant – When I was talking with my husband tonight, a rodent was looking over his right shoulder. Pretty gross.
Obnoxious – Empty restaurant would not serve me for lunch because I wanted to sit outside with my child. Very rude. UWS is family neighborhood & this restaurant is anything but.
Pretty sad actually – My dinner experience in a nutshell last night at Bistro Citron: Started out with a dirty water glass, which the waiter acknowledged as "gross" because the grime was actually 3-Dimensional. After getting a nice clean water glass, received a dirty wine glass, to which the waiter said I was "having bad luck". Disappointing – Despite what appeared to be numerous empty tables we were told we would need to wait "just a few minutes" which was totally fine. However 25 minutes passed before the host took the 6 of us to a 4 seat table. After some muttering under his breath and some resistance he agreed to add one of the abovementioned empty tables to create a 6 seat table for the 6 of us before storming off. Favorite French on the UWS – My fiance and I ate here in mid-September. The food was delicious, service was just right - not too much attention but prompt refills on the drinks and we could catch someone's eye if we needed something. The too cute take out bags made me wish I had some actual leftovers. This will be our go to place on the UWS.
Well worth it . . . . – Have been to the restaurant on several occasions and always enjoy it. The maitre d' Patricio is always friendly and accommodating. While I don't recall them featuring many daily specials, the menu has plenty to choose from. The 2 steak dishes and pork chop are my favorites. Always a pleasant experience! – My boyfriend lives right near this place and we have gone several times. The atmosphere is fantastic and the waiters are very helpful. Their mussels in white wine sauce are fantastic! I also had a turnip and potato soup there (it was a special) which was absolutely delicious. Their steak is good as are their chicken dishes. The wine list is extensive and has some great choices. I would definitely recommend this place.
