Santricia did a good job & most of her staff tried to accommodate the residents to the best of their abilities, even when short staffed. Some of the rehab I received was excellent. At the end, the PT director basically refused to help me. I had a scooter for amputees & she insisted I wasn't ready for it. So, the rest of my training consisted of meaningless testing. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the nursing center at Big Elm. My mom spent over a month in their short term rehabilitation center and it was such a smooth and seamless transition. The support staff, (Santricia + Krista) literally held my hand every step of the way. All of the nurses and aides were so nice and kind and attentive. I don’t know how we would have survived this ordeal without them. Thank you all so very much!

This facility treats their residents terribly. Not the med tech or the CNA's but the owner and the upper Admin (namely Izabela, Tom and Mike) owner moves residents around who don't have bladder control to filthy moldy rooms so he doesn't have to "smell them when he walks in" they only have 2 med techs and 2 CNA's to change/feed/ and check on more than 50 residents. When employees try and advocate for residents they are scolded and told that they are "causing problems". I wouldn't put my worst enemy in this facility much less... read more

This place is a gem. Wonderful staff and exceptional medical care. If you are in need of either short term rehabilitation or extended nursing care, this place is so very special.
