The owner could make his staff feel important, like they weren't replaceable and that their hard work made a difference, especially when it came to regular guests that felt like Norm from Cheers. The staff make people feel important and in turn the guests feel more like a part of the family and make the diner a frequent place to visit. Friday night at a Big City Diners, we ran into a mini version of the Republican Lieutenant Governor Candidate Marissa Kerns. She appears to work there since she was wearing a name tag. She was ranting & raving about the cost of rail and the cost of living. “It would have been cheaper to fly people to Mars and back. For that cost - more buses to come every 5 minutes. Minimum wage at $15, the cost of a studio will go up to $1500/month.” Let me guess? she must be in mgmt. since she objects to paying line staff livable wages. . ... read more
