i didnt have a problem with them.. O_O – so yea i do see this shop giving attitude with people and yea sometimes the staff overcharge people for no reason and sometimes see them cursing at people but i dont have a problem with them. one time I went to unlock my bike that was in 82nd street between Columbus and Amsterdam... and saw that someone had backed their car over my back wheel. ANYWAY he fact is that I brought my bike in at about 6:30 PM and when I called at 1:30 PM the next day it was good to go. They was nice to me a... read more

RUDE AND DISHONEST – I live in the neighborhood and had my eye on a cruiser in the shop for a year. Finally decided to take the plunge and buy it; price tag $879. They rang it up as $1000. When I pointed out the price tag on the bike says $879 the big fat guy cops an ugly attitude with me. "Well the price tag is wrong", half shouting, condescendingly tells me that I’m lucky it’s only $1000; it retails for $1200 and it’s "on Sale". Meanwhile, there’s NO "Sale!" or ‘Price Reduced!’ sign anywhere; just the same dusty old tag th... read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE AVOID WITH YOUR LIFE – A mother and young daughter were trying to rent bikes to ride in Central park. The bike that they gave the girl had a broken brake lever that was hanging off. I will never forget this. She asked him if it was ok and he started screaming at her and then dropiing f-bombs at the mother. Customers in the store were shocked. We left and will never ever go back. Shame on that overweight man at the front counter for doing that. Just the image of the little girl crying is enough to to... read more

Awful, overpriced con-artists – I went into this place for a simple adjustment and they took my bike and did a bunch of unsolicited work on it then tried to charge me for it. I didn't pay for any of the extra stuff, but could tell they weren't used to customers questioning their work-now-bill-later policy. Also, the one favorable review on here is clearly written by an employee.

nasty, nasty, nasty. . . – . . . that about sums it up. Why bore you with the details? Suffice it to say that I'm a veteran rider/racer/mechanic who needed help with a minor emergency and made the mistake of asking them for a helping hand. . . Only a true masochist would submit themselves to the humiliation these evil little devils gleefully rain down on any innocent fool who stumbles into their miserable little bicycle hell. How they stay in business is a complete mystery to me. A good location near Central Park in a high-r... read more

Ditto on the lame-ass customer service – Agree with the other reviewers. This place just stinks. I took my road bike in to see if they could diagnose a noise it was making, and after about 45 minutes of "looking at it" I had to practically grab the guy by the collar to ask him if they were able to deduce anything. He practically blew me off. Then the aloof repair guy wheeled out my bike and said he didn't find anything, but tightened some things. I took the bike outside for a test ride -- the sound was still there. They did ... read more

I thought selling a bike would be what they wanted – The only way this shop might still be in business is through rentals by tourists? My experience totally mimicks the other bad reviews I've read on other sites. Unfortuntatley, I didn't read them until I wasted 4 trips to this store. My first trip there, I basically had to prod Jimmy to even show me anything, even though I had given him my riding profile and needs up front. It was only after asking if he even wanted to make a sale that evening, that he started pointing out ... read more

Poor service, rude employees – I honestly think that Fattsman (who wrote the positive review below) must be one of Bicycle Renaissance's managers. I've had multiple bad experiences at this store, and I've heard numerous horror stories from others who've tried to patronize the place. I've finally given up on it, despite its convenience to my home. I'd honestly rather drive my bike up to Piermont Bicycles than walk it over to BR. In no particular order, I've experienced: incompetent mechanical service; serious misinformation a... read more

not reccomend – They want to only sell a bike. Once I pay money, they ignore me. I wanted to ask some question, but their answer were only "yes" "no" and "I don't know" If you are a beginner, you should not buy your bike at this shop.
