We adopted our son through Bethany (domestic adoption, placement directly from hospital). When selecting an adoption agency, it was important to us to work with someone local and who provides excellent resources to birth mothers. We love that birth mothers are in the driver's seat and are provided with a pregnancy counselor who is separate from our adoption specialist. This review dates back eight years, when the Columbia, SC office was still open. After waiting for years to adopt, we ended up paying $9,000 solely for a Home Study and Post-Placement report—for a child we ultimately adopted through another agency (a truly excellent one). We deeply regret ever contacting Bethany. The time lost “waiting for nothing” and the money spent were painful lessons. Hope you don't ever want any information about you adoption or any family history because these people lose your files then pass you off to other companies who don't have access to your files "if they even exist" or they just blow you off and never get back to you. 20 years I've been searching and you people have not helped once. pass the buck to the next person. Unimaginably disappointed and depressed.
Called to inquire about summer volunteering and the reception lady acted all confused at first while fumbling around her desk, then asked me for my email and call back number as the line went dead
