The Best Western Kodiak could be an exceptional hotel. The location is unbeatable, and there’s even a giant (taxidermy) bear in the lobby. But unfortunately, it’s run by a general manager who seems completely disengaged from both her responsibilities and the guests’ experiences. Many of the rooms are also exposed directly to the outside, like a Motel 6- which means that they get super cold in the winter and very hot in the summer- because they don't have air conditioning and Alaska winters are known to be very cold. Walking distance to almost everything in town. Great service. Rooms were clean but little dated.
