So hubby and I took a one day vacation at the best western near Carowinds. It was not the best for what I paid. When we got there the reception seemed irritated that it was 6. Then after telling her 3 times we were using our credit from the site she still charged my card. I mentioned it again and her answer was oh I didn't notice it on the reservation sorry. Rooms are very small, hotel needs to be updated, and it's across from an old rundown empty motel. Not good for esthetics.
The hotel had a noticeable smell of marijuana during both nights of our stay. It was detectable outside the building, in the stairwells, and on several floors, which negatively impacted the overall experience. Our room's floor also did not appear to have been vacuumed thoroughly. On a positive note, the bathroom was very clean, the pool was clean and well maintained, and the staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful throughout our stay. Close to everything where we need it to be at specifically the amusement park. Breakfast was about a plan as it could be.
