Incredible meat. Very moist and I could actually taste the smoke. The onion rings were insane. Very impressed. If your visiting Charleston you for sure wanna check this place out.
Arrived 36 hours after the winter apocalypse of 2018. Bessinger’s & 75% of Charleston was closed to business. Did not get to enjoy any of the renowned Charleston BBQ. I will not even be able to compare Charleston SC to Lexington NC BBQ.

Grew up in Charleston eating bessingers at least weekly and now I live out of town. We visit monthly and get bessingers on every trip down. Here recently the quality of food has decreased greatly. I have ordered a side of hash over rice for decades and the last two times have been full of rice and a spoon full of hash. The container size is larger but it's all rice. Dined for Thanksgiving..Wonderful meal..buffet..Anything one could imagine was on the buffet..
We had a great thanksgiving dinner at Bessingers! Loved all of the meats, sides, salad bar, and desserts. Cherry Yum Yum dessert is at the top of the list!
Have been going to Bessingers since it was called Piggy Park, and have always thought the food was great and the onion rings were the best. Went there today and ordered at the window. The service was real slow and it did not seem that busy, around 530 pm, Ordered big joe basket, regular joe sandwich and order of onion rings (4).
