I appreciate your response, but to be absolutely clear, I will not be calling your office, and neither I nor my children will ever return as patients of Dr. Maria Bernard. I made every possible effort to handle this situation respectfully and privately before being forced to leave a public review. I live almost two hours away, and my daughter has been a patient at this practice for years. At no point during those years was I ever told that patients must arrive 30 minutes before their appointment. I had been in Brazil for two months visiting family when my son began having severe behavioral episodes — extreme hyperactivity all day and inability to sleep. We called ahead at 1:25 pm for a 2:00 pm appointment because we knew we would be running late and explicitly asked multiple times whether we would still be seen. We were told it was fine to come, so we drove over an hour with our young child. When we arrived around 2:10 pm, we were later told that the guidance we relied on “didn’t count” because it came from a third-party answering service.
