The staff and volunteers who maintain BNRC's properties are a dedicated group of nature enthusiasts. Working with the trail team to clear debris, lay down bog bridges, and build an entirely new trail (Clam River) has been a great experience.
Tad Ames concept for the future of Berkshire Natural Resources with the High Road is brilliant and visionary. While preserving the land of the Berkshires has been the mandate of BNRC, getting the message out to the public that this land exists and there is access is a job in itself. The High Road will facilitate the process of boosting awareness literally via 'boots on the 'ground'. George Wislocki was the Director of BNRC when we met, decades ago, just as he culminated the deal effecting a 99 + 99 year preservation of Gould Meadows, rescuing that gorgeous property from developers. Sweeping views, virgin forest, and a gorgeous walk to the north shore of Stockbridge Bowl saved for our children's children's children's children... a true Berkshire hero and a great, kind soul.
