The EMTs are awesome, but the folks who review whether or not someone is eligible for a reduced ambulance bill need some lessons in compassion. My elderly grandparents, who live on a fixed income, were recently advised that they make too much money for any relief from my grandfather’s $900 ambulance bill. My grandfather has already said that the next time he has a real, actual emergency we shouldn’t call 9-1-1 and need to just load him in the car and take him ourselves. Let me know how that sits on your conscience.
