A year ago, Ben replaced the engine in my 1999 camry with a low mileage used one. It's been very good, way better than the other option which was to replace the car. I looked at the negative comments. I think that's a result of that fact that Ben's shop takes care of mostly older cars. Older cars can be tough to get 100% fixed 100% of the time, because they tend to have lots of problems (kind of like old people... heh). And face it, some people are hard to please. My impression and experience is that he is honest and does go... read more
Ben will work with you! – Last week, my commuter car died at work. I typically do most of the work on my car but I thought it was a bad fuel pump which is over my hear. I had the car towed over to Ben's while I was at work. He called me a couple hours later and explained it was my mass air flow sensory and some bad fuel injectors. I explained that I didn't want to get too invested in my 1989 Maxima. He found a used sensor and only changed three of the six injectors because he understood my situation. I took the car home that... read more
Horribly Bad!! Keep away! – At first i thought this place was trustworthy and the mechanics seemed honest; after they had done the work on my 1983 Datsun, they called me telling me it was done. Drove it for a test run to check if its running the way it should be, and it failed us; right then and their. OK, at this point i was not fully impressed but not fully disappointed either. Went back to the shop, and he ended up charging me $330, for adjusting my carb and containing vacuum leaks. which is an awful deal, keeping in mind... read more
ben and shawn are good mechanics and men – i'm black and they treat me like i'm equal to them.
A Trustworthy, Hard Working Mechanic – I went to Ben's Japanese Auto Clinic to have a new engine put into my beloved 87 Honda and was happy to know Ben offered a engine warranty -- not thinking I would need to use it. Well there was an oil leak that caused heavy smoke on start up so I took the car in TWICE over the course of a month to have the engine readjusted. I was impressed that Ben honored his warranty each time and worked hard to diagnose and fix the problem without a cent charged for labor. Though I was charged for s... read more
Never get your car fixed here -because they won't – We had this place recommended. Went here 3 times. Last 2 repairs are questionable. We had a broken lifter in our car, but all of the sudden, every other part needed replacing. They offered to rebuild the engine for $2000, but then we agreed that $1450 to get it running. Engine still ticked for a few days afterward, but then cleared up. Next time, we needed the starter fixed. A couple other things needed replacing that we new about so gave the go-ahead. But the car still sta... read more
Trusting – I've been taking my vehicles to Bens for the last couple years now and I've only had good experiences. I took my old 92 toyota into him a year ago. It needed a new radiator. He actually bought a used radiator from a reckage yard and put it in. The radiator was like new, but I was only charged for the reckage yard price. He always shows me the used parts he replaces. I recomend it to everyone. I'm actually taking my van into him today.
what a pro! – i had a 105k-mi service done on my 98' accord at Ben's a month ago, and i'm really satisfied. i dropped my car at scheduled time, and got my it back on time. the parts they used are all genuines and even inexpensive! the bill and the explantions are understandable, most of "scary" shops out there use cheap after market parts, and the charges are just too much. they don't even know waht they're doing. go to Ben's and get your works done that you need for reasonable price.
