Don t hesitate to call me for a short private phone interview for a psychiatric consultation. When you call, you will not be talking to a secretary taking down your information, as I answer all my calls. Also you will know what to expect when you make a decision to meet with me. Bengi B. Melton, MD

The first video consult I had with her went fine but she had a rude attitude as if she didn't want to help me and she also had a condescending tone. When I tried to cancel the second scheduled session due to insurance issues Dr. Bengi said confidently that she would waive the cancellation fee (since I was still working with the billing department 3 days prior to the session which would require the psychologist to approve the cancellation). Later I realized she didn't waive the cancellation fee and told the billing department... read more
I’ve seen the same psychiatrist for 16 years (depression, anxiety, and ADHD), he’s nearing retirement, so I thought I’d take a recommendation from UnitedHealthcare for a replacement. Huge mistake. Dr. Melton asked if I was telling her the truth, then she asked if I was having memory issues, she blamed me for not knowing why I was prescribed the medications I’m taking (I just know my diagnosis and I leave the medications to the doctors), then she told me she couldn’t help me. What a waste of time. I have never been made to fe... read more
I suffer from major depressive disorder, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and PTSD. I had a VA appointment with Dr. Melton, which took six months to get. She was half an hour late, immediately dismissed my mental health, and practically told me to get over it since I've been out of the military for a few years. Completely made me feel like more trash than I already do. It's so infuriating that doctors like her are what the VA has to offer veterans.
Dr. Melton helped me a lot while I was under her care at Veterans Hospital. Very caring and actually interested and listened to what I had to say. Very helpful and professional.
My experience with Dr. Melton, it gives me great pleasure to know that I was treated by her as a human being and not a patient. I am 18 months alcohol free because she encouraged me and supported me when I didn’t see what harm I was doing to myself. I will miss her talks, now that she left the establishment that I attended. You have to want help and practice what is being told, if not you will always find a way to fight the hand that heals you. Thank Dr. Melton!
I didn't feel like she was listening to any of my concerns that I stated clearly. She seemed more like she just wanted to see me so that she could take advantage of the fact that I was paying full-price at a clinic that is income-based. After 4 appointments with her and absolutely NO headway, I will definitely not go back.
I spoke with Dr. Melton today (06-01-2016.) She said she no longer takes private patients. She only accepts patients through the VA Center.
