As we start getting geared up for the upcoming school year, I just wanted to thank some of the awesome teachers at our schools. Karen Cantele at BHS and Sally Medearis at WA, thank you both for inspiring my kids on a daily basis. Ms. Tapia at South, thanks for getting my son excited about school. And Heather Nelson, you are a rock star! Cudos to all the great teachers my kids have had over the years. Have a great year!!!
Taking away Veterans Day is wrong my kids went to school and were very bitter about it
You guys are terrible with handling bullying situations. I've been having problems with the same kids the whole school year, and it never gets handled the way it should be. Then biggest lie I've heard come from this school district is bullying will not be tolerated. I thought school was supposed to be safe, but I don't even wanna get out of bed anymore cuz I don't want to go to school and get picked on. It's a lot to handle.
It's with heavy heart to understand what the district was thinking to have school on Veterans Day. I have several family members who are in the force. Maybe, you can reconsider this decision for the next school year. Let's not lose focus on who has fought for our country and honor them just ONE day.
Cancel The Parade?? You are slapping these Veterans right in the face. Your reasoning is " it's an opportunity to educate our students on the significance of November 11th on the day specifically reserved for this remembrance." This is your main reason for going on field trips. To allow the children to get the feel of real experiences and to feel of what they are learning about. Very dissapointed that the schools have classes on Veterans Day 11/11 and can't get the marching bands and parents etc out for the Veterans Day Parade. The VFW had to cancel and I guess Veterans don't count in Belvidere Il.
I am shocked that you are having school attendance this Veterans day......WHY!!??!!??!!??!!??
