This place is awful. I sat down outside and the guy ran me off before I could even ask for a menu. No wonder it's always empty. Extremely rude.
Love this place. Comfortable, great music that’s neither too loud nor soft. Good food and drinks, and wonderful staff. There isn’t anything like it on the east side of Springfield, and super easy to get to off Rt 65.

We dropped off donations to Watching Over Whiskers when we saw Before & After a few doors down. We weren't familiar with them so we popped in and enjoyed it. The guys behind the counter welcomed us in, told us about some of the libations, and were so kind. Hubs ordered the B&A Hefeweizen and I ordered the visiting Göller Pils. I'm usually a hefe drinker too so it took a few sips for me to adjust to my selection, but I really did enjoy it. Before & After is truly a gem in Springfield. The atmosphere is laid-back, inviting, and genuinely cool. Whether you’re there for a beer or a coffee, you really can’t go wrong. Every meal I’ve had there has been great, with ingredients and preparation that feel good quality rather than cheap or rushed. On top of that, the staff has always been welcoming and friendly.
