My mother was given a life expectancy from her oral cancer of 3-6 months on 9/20/24. I contacted hospice on 9/21/24 and they came out and did their assessment of my mother.. The nurse who came out, I think her name was Rebecca, was very kind and helpful. The next day , one of the hospice nurses came out and did her exam. She was there for about 30-45 min. We did not have a great experience with Beacon. We were told in the hospital what a great experience this was going to be- and it was not. My sister was brought home in a Sunday morning. armed with only OxyContin- she was very agitated and uncomfortable. One woman came by w forms to sign- but there was no sign of a nurse. Monday morning I called Beacon and was told after their Monday morning meeting a nurse would come by. An aide came early afternoon and then a Siciak worker. No nurse - no instructions on how to administer d... read more

I am writing this poor review based on my recent experience bringing my dad on hospice under the care of this agency. My elderly 88 year old dad was released at 2 pm on a Friday afternoon from the Portsmouth Hospital and given 3 handwritten prescriptions to have filled myself. There was no paperwork provided about their services or guidance on what to expect. It was Memorial Day weekend and 5 pharmacies did not have any medications on hand. My family’s experience with Beacon Hospice was one of 100% satisfaction. From intake until her death, these true angels for there with their knowledge, caring attitudes, kindness and guidance for all of us. I would recommend this group for anyone who must put a relative into hospice care.
