So thrilled to the dine here again after several years and still be able to enjoy the original format. Seeing Jamie again was terrific, Mario was extremely professional, just so unique and singular steakhouse in the greater Seattle area. Nothing else in the northwest can compare.
This is one of my favorite places to get a steak in Seattle, but also just a great experience even if you're *not* looking to go nuts on steak. The menu model is very interesting, and creates a unique kind of excitement about going there. Maybe that's not for everyone. But hey, if you want to get the same cut of mediocre steak, go find a mediocre steakhouse. Bateau truly understands the balance of fat, acid and salt. Every dish is innovative, fun, delicious and interesting. The mushrooms are a dream. The potato ice cream is complex and comforting. Dined on 6/7 for a birthday celebration (noted in our reservation). Bad experience at Bateau, and unfortunately, mostly disappointing. While the steak was decent (though slightly overcooked), most of the dishes were overly salty. But the real letdown was the service—by far one of the worst we’ve experienced in a fine dining or bistro setting, especially considering the price point. Service was highly inconsistent.
