Dr Barry Wilcox is a fantastic radiation oncologist I have had the great opportunity and privilege to be referred to with the Baylor Sammons Cancer Center. He has been so helpful for me in my cancer adventure so far. He is kind and understanding, easy to work with and so is all his staff and medical support teams.

I wish I would have sought a second opinion before receiving radiation treatment. Dr. Wilcox suggested 28 rounds of radiation. Despite the burns and pain I was enduring after the first 2 weeks he encouraged me to continue. When meeting with him during my treatments he dismissed my concerns. Because of the severity of my treatment, my small intestines was burned and part of it had to be removed. I continue to experience problems with my large intestines almost 4 years later. My care was insensitive and inappropriate. There was no concern to care for me as a human being. He had no idea what trauma the hourly, untrained, unsupervised hourly workers inflict on his patients and doesn’t care. When I had issues during treatment I was told to “try aloe” on my oozing burns. I got an infection the first week and none of the plan was altered. In a subsequent mammogram, I was told they’ve not seen burns like mine in decades. The treatment protocols are out of date. Dr Wilcox is very thorough and knows his business! I will review again after I have seen him more times. I do read reviews and appreciate them, so maybe this will help someone else.
