Everything was great, including especially the wait staff, my only criticism is environmental: Even on a weekday night, 6pm, noisy. The bar wasn't that close, but with one big open room, plus an open split level, there's nothing to absorb loud (alcohol-induced) noise. I don't know what can be done, other than to offer ear plugs!

I have been eating at the Barnsider since it was in Colonie Center, and it served lunch. Each time our meals have been consistently good. Just one meal, I ordered the steak Teriyaki and it had been cut against the grain, and was tough. That is 1 time in 40 years. The steak is consistently delicious, the baked scallops are delicious, the prime rib is perfection. The salad is always crisp, the staff is constantly bringing out more salad and veggies and bread and everything you could possible want. I don't think there is a bett... read more

I will not be going back to this restaraunt – I was really exicited about going to the Barnsider for dinner for the first time. I had been to a retirement party there once (appentizers only) and liked the atmosphere and the appetizers. Whe we got there hubby ordered the prime rib w/Lobster casserole and I ordered the baked scallops. We started with the salad bar which was good, lots of crisp fresh veggies. And we also had the french onion soup, which we both liked. Then the main course came. My meal, a very hot pile of greas... read more

Barnsider: We love this place! – My husband and I have eaten over 500 steaks at this place and it's excellent. You can smell the quality from the moment you pull into the parking lot. The Barnsider has a full menu with many choices, from chicken and pasta to supreme steaks and seafood. Yet, we get the same thing almost every time. I am a Filet Mignon with berenaise fan. My husband loves a spicy cajun style sirloin with baked scallops. I admit, I'm quite finicky about how my streak is grilled. I order it medium rare and it's ... read more

Lousy Meal at Barnsider Restaurant My wife and I are extensive travelers (having visited all 50 states and many countries overseas) and have eaten at hundreds of high volume restaurants such as the Barnsider in Albany, NY. We did eat at the Barnsider on 10/2/10 and had the WORST food we've ever encountered in such a restaurant. For example: 1. I had flounder stuffed with lobster. The flounder was watery and tasteless and the few 1/2 inch sized pieces of lobster turned to paste when a fork touched them. 2. The french fries we... read more

Bring a Blankie – The place was frigid where we were seated. No offer was made to move us to another table, even though the place was empty save for a table of four. Tried to eat with our cumbersome winter coats, which proved to be impossible. Butter didnt even melt on our baked potatoes. Left with a hefty bill for uneaten food. Never again.
