Don't fall for their hype that bariatric surgery will fix all of your health problems and once you're healed your life will magically be better. When I was fat, I had some fatigue and sleep apnea. I was still able to work out. I was still able to work. Even when I didn't wear my CPAP machine, my sleep was decent. They told me my IBS would improve. My health would improve. I have worked in the medical field as a nurse for over 40 years so I have seen the good and bad in patient care. In saying that this is my review of Guelph Surgical Bariatric Program. I am so impressed with the care I have been given by Dr Pereira-Hong, Dr Parmar and the entire surgical program team. Nurses, Dieticians, Social workers and lovely Admin staff to OR staff have all been top notch!!! Not one thing needs improving in my opinion. I can’t believe how bad this organization is. The only way they will help you is if you follow the diet perfectly. No one can. My stomach is stretched. They aren’t supportive. They’re rude. Please contact the medical ombudsman and place a formal complaint!
Id been through the program once before and had been denied. I'm glad I was because it gave me the kick in the pants I needed to really get my shit together. I was referred again as soon as I could be and after months and months of appointments, I was approved for my surgery and it's scheduled for December 3. I cannot thank these people enough - everyone has been so, so kind and helpful, always willing to answer questions, and really thorough in explaining everything to me.
