This place is amazing! One of the best opticals I have been to! Fast, friendly service. Great selection. Designer eyewear. Takes different types of insurance. Vision and prescription tests. Full service optical. Also they don't make eyeglasses, they ship them to professional providers like most opticals, and serve many people in the Quad Cities. 1 Star for the Doctor. Picked up my new glasses 2 weeks ago. They do NOT help with my vision. Thankfully, I can get - and did purchase glasses at the dollar store that work just fine. At Bard Optical, the "DR." seemed to be in a rush with my eye exam. 1st she said can you see the letters & I said yes. BEWARE!!! After going to this location in order to have a comprehensive eye exam, to see if my prescription needed changing, I shelled out $612.52. After abotu 10 days I was notified that my order was finished. When I went to pick up the glasses, only the sunglasses were finished. I asked the lady why I was told that the order was complete? Gave me a glass exam when i went in for a contract prescription change so when I went to order contacts my insurance had already paid for my yearly exam and they couldn't give me my contacts without having a contact exam that i would have to pay out of my pocket. Very poor service going back to Nobbe!
I wanted to write a review to let others know about my recent experiences with Bard Optical in Sterling Illinois. I recently changed jobs and consequently my insurance provider changed as well, my previous eye doctor was no longer covered so I searched for a new provider and ended up at Bard Optical. Bard Optical made glasses for me that were so defective as a result of poor workmanship, that they caused me two years of double vision and migraine headaches. I had numerous tests including an MRI of my brain to make sure that there was not a tumor that was causing my double vision and headaches. Finally my ophthalmologist tested not only my eyes but also my glasses and found that the cause of these significant problems was the glasses. When I called for an initial appointment the receptionist was rude. I let it go and thought maybe she's having a bad day. She quoted the price of my visit with my insurance plan. I had my visit, the optomotrist was rude as well as the rest of the staff. Then they quoted a price for my contacts and when my contacts came in, the price was almost double and it was for half the quantity.
