If ordering death certificates you need to know that the short form death certificate does not list the cause of death and some organizations require it - such as Social Security, Life Insurance/Annuities, & Veterans Admin. When I was asked if I wanted to order the short or long form I asked what the difference was and was told the long form "listed medical information." Tom Hoffman our pre-need counselor at Baldwin brothers was extremely knowledgeable of some issues when you have a family member near the end of life. We were able to make the arrangements with no problem and the post death team couldn't have been nicer.

My parents prepaid for cremation in the event of their deaths several years ago with Baldwin Brothers. My father and my wife passed away within 10 days of each other. For my wife I selected Compasse Pointe. My father passed away first, but we still have not gotten his ashes and my mother only got his death certificates from Baldwin Brothers on the same day as we got both my wife's ashes and death certificates from Compasse Pointe despite her passing 10 days later.
