Food was ok my taco meat was hard no dress code the front of the counter girl kept sitting every chance she got wearing clothes inappropriate for any restaurant to many flies by are food
I really wanted to like this place. It is a bit shocking that a tourist town like Fredericksburg has so few good restaurants. This place would rank second to worst barbeque I have ever had. I am a born and bred Texan and grew up on BBQ. This place had good service and I like the atmosphere as well as great parking. I've had BBQ all over the state, even quite a few of the "Best BBQ in Texas" award winners and I believe Backwoods is the best. Everything they make is fantastic. I usually go for the tri-tip, chicken sausage, ribs, or 1/2 chicken but everything is delicious. The sides are tough to beat as well.
As a first time visitor on a Wednesday night, I was not impressed. We had a group of 6 guys ready to enjoy some amazing BBQ. Instead we had “meh” BBQ served by some very nice people in a clean restaurant. The meats were all uniformly dry and tasted like they had been waiting for us for a few days. We wanted to like it and we might give it another shot on a different day of the week in the hopes that we’re closer to the “cook day”. However, this visit was pretty mediocre.
