Located in the city's Historic District, B. Matthew's eatery has graduated from a small deli to a restaurant popular for its American cuisine. Fresh, local produce is used to create some mouthwatering traditional fare. You can start your day on a good note with breakfast entrées like maple cakes, Bay Street scramble and B. Matthew's basic breakfast. The lunch menu features sandwiches like the apple pecan chicken salad and turkey, avocado and ham. For dinner, you can enjoy scrumptious pan-roasted scallops, roasted quai... read more

B Matthews Bakery Eatery is OK for breakfast We gave B Matthews a try since it was a block away from our hotel. Breakfast was above average and a decent value. Lunch, however, was another story. The food portion was tiny and overpriced for what you could find within walking distance in the historic area.
Our dinner was wonderful. We went on the recommendation of a fishing guide. Patrick was our server, and he was entertaining and attentive.

Just an Observation – Local here and remember when B. Matthew's first opened. Love or hate the old owners, the food was much better and honest then, simply put. They did not pretend to be full of frills, or get your hopes up and fail to deliver. It was just good food plain and simple. The bakery aspect was truly something that downtown needed and now is sadly gone. The muffins and cinnamon rolls were to die for! Now it's over priced "fru-fru", trying-to-be-sheek food that does not suit the prices, nor the venue. The former o... read more
A massive disappointment all over – A group of 6 of us stopped in at lunch time. The hostess told us it would be a 20-30 minute wait, which is fine. We were hungry so we sat at the bar. After flagging down what we thought was the bartender (and flagging down was a MASSIVE effort) we placed 2 appetizer orders while we waited to be seated. After 45 minutes we still had not been seated or got the appetizers. It turned out the person who took our order was the owner and he forgot to place it. After 1 hour we were seated, and so ... read more
B Matthews not all it was cracked up to be – A group of six of us happened upon B Matthews the Saturday of St. Patty's Day weekend. Since we expected it to be a busy time we knew there would be a wait. The hostess said 20 min. We went up to the bar to order appetizers since we were starving. There was a man behind the bar who took our appetizer order and then when asked what the soup of the day was said he didn't know and walked away. 25 minutes later we were not sitting and had no appetizers! We asked another person who sai... read more
Great casual dining – A very clean, warm casual eatery in an interesting, historic building. Good service, reasonably priced meals. Comfort food. Superb management. Great Bloody Marys with brunch.
Disappointing – wine and waiter were fine; the food was greasy, poorly seasoned, or just wrong. Langoustine dumplings arrived floating in, oozing, and dripping grease. The deconstructed salad wasn't, rather just a pile of bib lettuce drenched with creamy italian dressing on one side of a plate, opposite three anchovy fillets. The tiny scallops in my entree topped with fried chard, floated in a sea of butter, cream and limp risotto. No wine could cut through that amount of fat, nor could those delicate scallops. best dinner ever – with the recent addition of an extremely creative and deliscious dinner menu nd an adventurous wine this downtown eatery has taken a big step to becoming what the new owners have dreamed of... a success story. the service is spectacular even during the busy breakfasts and crazy luches and the athmosphere is wonderful at night when the lights are down low and candles light up this old building. this is a dont miss for anyone visiting savannah or anyone who lives in savannah and hasn't been.
