Another issue that sometimes arises is substitution of materials without proper approval. Homeowners may agree to specific brands or quality levels, only to later discover that cheaper alternatives were used. This is often noticed only after installation, when replacing the materials would be costly and disruptive. In some cases, the contractor justifies it as “equivalent quality,” even when it clearly is not.

Whenever issues were pointed out, the contractor shifted blame to workers or external factors instead of taking responsibility. There was no clear effort to resolve problems properly or ensure the client was satisfied. It felt like avoiding accountability was the priority.

The contractor failed to properly coordinate different trades on the project. Electrical, plumbing, and finishing crews were constantly getting in each other’s way, causing delays and confusion. There was no clear schedule or supervision, which made the entire project inefficient and frustrating.
