I reserved a van online when we got there the sticker was expired they had nothing else to offer so we had to pay extra to get a van with a extended roof. They told me I could drop off in the evening and then said they had to charge me extra for it. That was not noted online. The drop off location we went to refused to take the car and sent us to the airport parking (took an hour). It was such a fiasco. Took over an hour @the rental place just to get the rental car. Be aware to get ripped off at AVR portland location!!! A serious complain to make is that the avr location at portland airport closes at “2 PM” charging $20 or $30 for an after hour drop off. This is basically to rip off almost everyone who tries to return cars to this location. I would understand if a drop off after 8 pm is considered as an after hour drop off under the policy. Even Government offices close at 4~5 pm and it is common that most commercial offices open until at lease 6 pm. Here we are talking abou... read more

Chicago O'hare location. Schiller Park: Very slow service. Having only one person in line before me, it took me over an hour to start paperwork and after approximately 1.5h I was able to pick up a van. All the vans offered were severely damaged, looked very old, with dents, lost paint from different hits/bumps, something I've never seen before when renting... and looked like I wouldn't make it too far in any of them. It was actually AVR - Portland OR. It was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. First I call the number that they give you to have the shuttle come get you and they inform me their shuttle is not working and we have to figure out how to get there ourselves. We had to pay for Uber which was an added expense. The lady manager at the Portland office was rude and terrible. The idea of company specializing in van rental at airports is a great one. Vans are not the mainstay of the major car rental companies, so their availability is limited and the prices often are astronomical. So we were excited when we discovered AVR for our trip to Portland with our daughter, her husband, and their one year old baby. Although the staff at the Portland office were great, AVR's rental process has major flaws. AVR will need to fix these if they want to be a reliable rental provider. No shuttle, had to pay out of pocket to get back to tgeir facility. Almost missed my flight returning the vehichle. Always call rental directly to make sure they have shuttle service. If not youll be crewed without a kiss. 😥

I am severely upset with the service at the Portland location! The service I received at that location was a horrible way to start my vacation with my children. I was traveling from South Carolina to Portland, OR with my seven children (ages 2 – 14), by myself for 3 weeks. I rented a van from AVR to accommodate my family during our vacation based on online reviews and price. It was not inexpensive (over $2,000).
