Five star experience with Avis staff and cars. The team could not have been nicer. I am not going to ding Avis for the shortcomings of Union Station. We had a time trying to find the counter and cars. Let me help you out. Locate the bus departure area and take the elevator to the car rental location. The bus departure area is a little more clearly signed in the station. The location was not clear on the Union Station directory and the two security personnel we asked were unable to give us directions.
DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. The cars at this location are famously under maintained. My car was beeping with low fuel and no air in the tires and smelled like smoke. Plus Avis WILL overbook your car and force you to wait three hours or upgrade to a nicer car. Poor communication by employees, difficult location to find in the parking garage, and poor maintenance. Did I mention poor maintenance?
Without fail they mess up my reservation, always in Avis favor. Sometimes I catch it at the counter, sometimes later then I have to call in to resolve. I would avoid unless there is no other option
Worst rental experiences I’ve ever had. They did not have any cars available even though I booked one weeks ago. Then they closed, without helping me solve the issue. I am a preferred member and still was left stranded. I am never renting with Avis again.
