Great experience returning our rental with Hugh at the Avis desk. Hugh was patient, courtesy and great to deal with and went above and beyond to take care of my family's needs. Hugh gathered information quickly, and made a customer focused resolution, that I was unable to receive after having spent 4 hours on with Avis Customer Care (3 hours of which was literally on hold). I had one of the worst rental experiences of my life with Avis on August 29th, 2025 at John Wayne Airport. I reserved and prepaid for a Toyota RAV4 (or similar SUV). When I arrived, they had no cars available and tried to downgrade me to a Mazda or a Toyota Corolla. After waiting nearly two hours at the counter, they came back with an excuse that I could not rent the car because I had made the reservation while I was in Panama, and that my booking went through the Avis Latin America site instead of Avis.com. Wish could give them 0 stars or negative - WORST company ever :- Do not rent from them . BIG PERIOD…Customer Service is a joke and really sucks. eventually a part of budget car rental ( budget cancelled on me saying earlier in the day saying they don’t have any cars available in corona, CA location where I had initially booked … I re- booked with Avis @ SNA like 30 miles away & paid $95 for uber to get to SNA only to be told you cannot rent because you did not fly into SNA or have a return ticket from SNA … really ? Not providing the car promises when booking. Also alternative choice all cars change extra more money per day asking. So not satisfied to take whatever they want to give. Not like to pick from this location.
