Tom and Maya, who assisted me, provided excellent service. They are professional and friendly.
I can’t say enough about Avis Agent Tom. As a matter of fact, he is featured in the photo for Georgetown garage, 1072 Wisconsin Ave NW DC. I didn’t have a problem with Avis itself, the problem was with the company that I was renting the car through. Tom went over and beyond to help me get it worked out. He even worked on it after hours, on his personal time, to make sure I got on the road as soon as possible. Terrible location! There was no one at the store at my pickup time. They didn’t have the car I reserved and gave me a different car with a broken infotainment system. I arrived to drop it off 20min after my return time since they were 20min late for my pickup and the woman inside had already locked up and refuse to take my keys. Even after I called corporate customer service and they told me that she needed to take them because she wants to charge me for another day. Prepaid rental car was not available. We had to eventually book a car from another agency. What’s worse: Their customer service and basic competence. They didn’t even call to let us know about potential delays / cancellation and didn’t pick up calls when we followed up. I had to go twice in-person despite the guy promising he would follow up on call in 30 mins. It wasted a good 2 hours and cost several at least 30% more for the new last minute booking. Avoid them unless you’ve absolutely no other options. They’re unhelpful.
They are always great about honoring resevations made well in advance and pickup and drop off are super easy. MESSI was super helpful
